The award ceremony of the 9th mass media competition entitled ”Equal Opportunities” took place on December 9. The competition was hosted by the “Bridge of Hope” and “Mission East” organizations.
According to them the articles had to represent the issues of disability, positive examples to overcome those issues and to contribute to building of equal opportunities for disabled people. The articles also had to preserve ethics of shooting and recording people with disabilities.
This year 44 journalists from Yerevan and from the regions of Armenia took part in ”Arevatsaghik” (”Sunflower”) media competition. Overall 60 works were submitted, 40 out of them were stories from the print media, 5 from radio and 15 from TV.
Journalist Liana Minasyan of ”Shoghakat” TV won the 1st prize for the “Best video”, the 2nd prize was awarded to Hasmik Smbatyan, reporter of “Radio Liberty”, and the 3rd prize went to “Ar” TV journalist Armine Oleyan.
This time nobody was awarded with the 1st prize for the “Best print article”. Arpi Maghakyan from Haynews.am won the 2nd prize for the same nomination and Parandzem Hovhannisyan from Medialab.am – the 3rd prize.
No prizes were awarded also for the “Best radio story” nomination.

Journalists Anna Hayrapetyan from “Erkir Media” TV, Ani Gasparyan from the “Ankakh” weekly and Mane Grigoryan from Haynews.am received incentive awards.
A special prize was awarded to Mary Alexanyan for the article “Dear Grigor Amalyan, open your ears to hear our voiceless voice” posted on Hra.am online periodical.
During the award ceremony the “Aravot” daily was handed a letter of gratitude by RA Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs for the regular coverage of disability issues.
