Internet Governance and Media Pluralism: OSCE Regional Media Conference in Tbilisi

Journalists are invited to cover the eighth annual South Caucasus Media Conference in Tbilisi on October 20. The conference starts at 10:00 at Hotel Marriott, Rustaveli Avenue 13, Tbilisi, 0108 Georgia.

The two-day event will provide a forum for discussion on Internet governance and media pluralism. The conference will be opened by OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media Dunja Mijatović.

More than 70 journalists, representatives of non-governmental media organizations, parliamentarians, government officials and academics from Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia, as well as international experts are expected to attend.

Participants will discuss the role of the Internet in promoting pluralism in the OSCE region and the South Caucasus in particular, analyse international standards and practices, and share the latest developments in the field of media freedom in the South Caucasus.

International and national experts will speak about their experiences regarding the issues on the Internet governance. Information on the legal situation of the media in the South Caucasus from an OSCE report on freedom of expression on the Internet will also be presented.
