The first thoughts of flashmob occured in a tea-house last year, when 3 friends Armen, Eduard and Vaghinak, after long discussions, decided to implement the plan.
”Flashmob culture is a type of PR technology. That culture is rather rootted in West and we initiated something like that in Yerevan. The first flashmob was dedicated to the 95th unniversary of the Armenian Genocide” says 22-year-old economist Armen Suqiasyan.
On the exact planned time from differnt sides of Abovyan street there gathered groups of youth in Aznavour Square and standing in rows lifted up the papers of their hands. It shaped the 95 simbolizing the 95th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.
Flashmob is a planned chain of actions during which a group of people suddenly appear in a public place, carry out an illogical action and then dissapear as quickly as they appeared.
The psychological side of flashmob is that the participants create an illogical situation but act as if everything is all right. In spite of the strange atmosphere the participiants should be serious.

Organizing groups exist not only in Yerevan, but also in Gyumri and Vanadzor.
”The group was formed in Gyumri Student Council. We got to know about flashmob from the internet. Our first mob occured about a year ago: in Central Square of Gyumri we danced Qochari with 70 persons which surprised the passers by,” says the responsible of Gyumri flashmob team Karen Raphaelyan.
The team cooperated with ”Gyumri Youth Bank” commitee, Shirak Youth Concil, and with the student councils of the universities of Gyumri.
”Though organizing flashmobs in Gyumri is a difficult task it creates brighter feelings than in any other place,” assures K. Raphaelyan.
Recently, with the initiation of ”Peace Dialogue,” in the Central Square of Vanadzor took place a flashmob intitled ” A moment of Multiplicity” with 70 participants. The flashmob was dedicated to the tolerance towards other cultures.
”Tolerance is one of the most crucial issues the youth faces today. We should understand there are no right or wrong cultures and be tolerant to other cultures,” highlights the president of ”Peace Dialogue” organization Edgar Khachatryan.
