“Journalists for the Future” NGO (JFF) held the subsequent workshop entitled “Open Government Partnership Initiative” in Vanadzor city on December 12, 2014 with the financial support of the US Embassy to Armenia.

The workshop which aimed at introducing the process of Armenia’s participation in OGP initiative was attended by almost 15 CSO representatives in Lori region.

Suren Deheryan, JFF president noted that similar events on OGP initiative aim at increasing the level of awareness among the civil society fostering their active engagement in OGP-Armenia processes.

This time the workshop speaker was Aram Asatryan, adviser on public governance issues of the staff of RA Government, member of OGP working group, who mentioned that RA Government highlights participation of civil society in this process and is open to discuss all the proposals represented by them within the framework of the Government jurisdiction.

The CSO representatives in Vanadzor discussed the OGP-Armenia first and second Action Plans, the implemented and expected projects on the basis of these plans. The participants called upon the RA Government to fulfill effective steps addressed to involvement of CSOs in this process. They also expressed their willingness to take part in monitoring process of the OGP-Armenia actions.

Referring to the OGP-Armenia two Action Plans, Asatryan noted that some of the obligations in the first Action Plan assumed continuous process which made it difficult get measurable results. “We attempted to fill this gap in the second Action Plan, so the first and second actions are quite different in terms of measurability,” Asatryan emphasized.

As part of the workshop the participants were provided with necessary online literature to learn more about this initiative and get involved in this process.

The range of workshops entitled “Open Government Partnership Initiative” in the regions of Armenia has been launched by JFF since September 2014. Similar workshops attended by more than 80 representatives of local CSOs were held in Goris, Alaverdi, Gyumri and Armavir cities. This range of workshops will be continued in Gavar and Hrazdan cities.
