Trainers Ara Ghazaryan, lawyer, Samvel Martirosyan, information security expert, Suren Deheryan, media expert, referred to the following topics: legal regulation of cyberspace and basics of Internet security, literate usage of information flows during the NGO activities, boundaries of freedom of speech in the Internet, etc.

According to Deheryan taking into account the abundance of the issues raised at the workshop and the interest shown to the topics it should be stated that topics related to the Internet rights and security are already actual in Armenia, too, since the examples brought by the participants were directly related to them.

Participants expressed their satisfaction for the workshop and highlighted the continuity of such kind of workshops.

Elvira Meliksetyan, Communication and PR manager at Women’s Resource Center, noted that all the topics discussed during the workshop were crucial and interesting. “I was particularly interested in the discussions related to the legal regulation of freedom of speech in the Internet and the obtained knowledge should be used in practical activities in the case of violating those rights,” Meliksetyan said.

Gagik Sargsyan, Projects’ Coordinator and Chief Expert at the Republican Union of Employers of Armenia, greatly evaluated the workshop conduction mentioning that the topics were represented in a professional manner and with details.

“The legal sides of the Internet usage are poorly covered in our media and we are less informed about it. I think each of us will try to take a particle of this workshop to our NGOs which will help to implement more specialized activity in the Internet,” Sargsyan stressed.

“I wish such workshops be organized more often and my suggestion is that the practical part of this issue is to be paid more attention though it is understandable that the organizers were not able to do it because of the lack of time,” Sargsyan noted.

Besides a number of thematic workshops, a special headline entitled “Internet and Rights” was created in the official website of JFF within the framework of “Free, Reliable and Secure Internet Information for All” project developed by JFF. Articles published under this headline aim to support the literacy increase of the Internet users, as well as the effective and secure usage of the Internet.

It is also planned to publish a book including a series of articles and the survey results implemented by JFF among the civil society and NGO representatives concerning Internet literacy and cyber security.
