Dan Gillmor, American technology writer, lecturer and media entrepreneur, will be making several presentations and speeches in Yerevan and Gyumri during his upcoming visit in October, hosted by “Journalists For the Future” NGO and made possible through the financial assistance of the U.S. Department of State Public Affairs Section.

Dan Gillmor, who is currently a professor of practice at the Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication, also will be participating in a presentation of the Armenian version of his book Mediactive. 

This book has recently been translated into Armenian and published by the “Journalists For the Future” NGO, funded through a grant by the U.S. Department of State Public Affairs Section. After the presentation the e-version of the book will be available online at JNews.am.

During his public presentations Prof. Gillmor will share his experience with the transformation of the American media landscape, describe principles of reliable media production and significance of online presence of the citizen as well as talk about media entrepreneurship. He will also address important topics on how one can sustain an active online presence, give some examples of traditional media outlets’ successes and failures in implementing digital platforms and share a number of media tools, business models, and techniques for start-up initiatives.
