The “Journalists for the Future” NGO organized a three-day camp for journalism teachers (T-camp) on November 26-28, in Aghveran: the topic was “New Media Tools of Mass Media”. Among the participants there were lecturers of journalism departments from about 8 state and non-state universities of Armenia.

The workshop was moderated by Dziugas Parsonis, lecturer of Vilnius University and Journalism Institute, and Ana Keshelashvili, lecturer and coordinator of the “New Media” course of the Caucasus School of Journalism and Media Management of Georgian Institute of Public Affairs.

The participants theoretically as well as practically examined and discussed different topics related to the transformation of mass media in digital environment, the impact of social networks and the ways and rules of communication on the Web domains.

Each participant created his/her individual blog; also a joint working platform – http://tmtarmenia.blogspot.com/ – was established to develop future cooperation.

As a result of discussions and group works together with experts, the T-camp participants developed and represented 2 draft proposals for the “New Media” course. After being discussed, the draft proposals of both groups were issued on jtcamp.posterous.com joint domain, where also the reports and materials of the seminar were posted. Also a closing and certificate handing ceremony took place.

Development of the “New Media” course is still continued within the framework of the “New Media Workshop for Media Society” project. Meetings at the Linguistic University after V. Brusov and at Gyumri State Pedagogical University will be organized aiming at the development and involvement of the “New Media” course in the curricula of the universities.

Soon the “Journalists for the Future” NGO will organize a refresh workshop also for the journalists working in the regions of Armenia.
