1865թ.-ին Ալեքսանդրապոլում` ներկայիս Գյումրիում, Վարդան Միրզոյանի կազմած թատերախմբի հիման վրա, բացվեց Հայաստանի առաջին թատրոնը: Այս բեմի վրա խաղացել են աշխարհահռչակ դերասաններ, ինչպիսիք են Մհեր Մկրտչյանը, Վարդուհի Վարդերեսյանը, Ցոլակ Ամերիկյանը, Ժաննա Թովմասյանը և այլոք: Արմեն Տիգրանյանի «Անուշ» օպերան առաջին անգամ բեմադրվել է հենց այս թատրոնում 1912թ.-ին:

Անցել է 146 տարի: Թատրոնը, որը մի ժամանակ լի էր դերասանների հույզերով, հանդիսատեսի հրճվանքով, մնացել է լքված ու անտեր: 1960թ.-ին հրդեհից հետո թատրոնը ամբողջությամբ այրվեց, և այլևս չվերականգնվեց: Հետագայում նույն շենքում բացվեց «Շինարարների ակումբը», որտեղ ֆիլմեր էին ցուցադրվում: Իսկ մինչև վերջերս «Շիրակ հեռուստաընկերությունն» այնտեղ բացել էր իր հեռուստաստուդիան:

«Հայկական մեդիան հարձակման թիրախ» խորագիրը ներկայացնում է լրագրողների լուսանկարների շարք, որոնք մեկ կամ մի քանի անգամ Հայաստանում ենթարկվել են հարձակման: Լուսանկարներն արված են  նրանց վրա կատարված հարձակումներից անմիջապես հետո: Լրագրողների նկատմամբ բռնության դեպքերը Հայաստանում գնալով ավելանում են:

Միայն վերջին 5 տարիների ընթացքում ավելի քան 10 լրագրողներ ենթարկվել են հարձակման և ծեծի, կեսը՝ 2008 թվականին:

Դեպքերի մեծ մասը դեռ բացահայտված չեն, իսկ մեղավորները մնում են անպատիժ: Սա դարձել է «հարց լուծելու» և լրագրողներին լռեցնելու ամենակարճ և ամենահեշտ ճանապարհը: Նրանց ճնշում են թե՛ ֆիզիկապես, թե՛ հոգեբանորեն իրենց քննադատական, ընդդիմադիր հոդվածների, մասնագիտական աշխատանքի և ազատ խոսելու իրավունքի համար: Լրագրողների հանդեպ բռնությունները խստորեն դատապարտվում են երկրի մարդու իրավունքների պաշտպանի և լրագրողական կազմակերպությունների կողմից:

Ոչ մի լրագրող Հայաստանում պաշտպանված չէ հարձակումներից կամ բռնություններից ազատ խոսելու համար: Սա մի յուրօրինակ ֆոտոռեպորտաժ է վերջին տարիներին Հայաստանում լրագրողների հանդեպ իրականացված բռնությունների մասին և այն պետք է շարունակություն ունենա նաև կովկասյան այլ երկրներում:

Հետգրություն. այստեղ պատկերված բոլոր լրագրողները շարունակում են իրենց աշխատանքը, նրանցից ոչ ոք հարձակումներից հետո չի լքել լրագրության ասպարեզը:

Մամուլի ազատության միջազգային օրվա կապակցությամբ մայիսի 3-ին Երևանում “Մամուլի ազատություն. տեղեկացված լինելու իրավունք” խորագրով ցուցահանդեսին ներկայացվեցին 10 լուսանկարներ:

Մեկշաբաթյա ցուցահանդեսը կազմակերպել է Հայաստանում “Տեղեկատվության ազատության կենտրոն” հասարակական կազմակերպությունը ԵԱՀԿ երևանյան գրասենյակի և ՄԱԿ-ի Հասարակական տեղեկատվության բաժնի հետ համատեղ և ֆինանսավորվել է ԱՄՆ Միջազգային զարգացման գործակալության (ԱՄՆ ՄԶԳ) կողմից: Ներկայացված 300 լուսանկարներից ընտրվել են ավելի քան 30-ը ցուցահանդեսին ներկայացնելու համար. ընտրված բոլոր լուսանկարները կտպվեն կատալոգում:

Ցուցահանդես են այցելել լրագրողներ, պետական կառույցների և քաղաքացիական հասարակության ներկայացուցիչներ:

“Սա յուրօրինակ ցուցադրություն է, քանի որ բոլորը, հատկապես լրագրողներն ու պրոֆեսիոնալ լուսանկարիչները, հրավիրված էին ներկայացնելու տեղեկատվության և խոսքի ազատության վերաբերյալ իրենց աշխատանքները: Այս հիմնարար իրավունքներն, ըստ էության, կապված են մամուլի ազատության հետ, որն իր հերթին նպաստում է ժողովրդավարության ամրապնդմանը, լավ կառավարմանն ու մարդկային զարգացմանը”,- ասում է “Տեղեկատվության ազատության կենտրոն” ՀԿ նախագահ Շուշան Դոյդոյանը:

10 photos from the “Freedom of press: the right to know” photo exhibition was opened on May 3 in Yerevan to mark World Press Freedom Day.

The one-week exhibition has been organized by the Freedom of Information Centre of Armenia non-governmental organization in cooperation with the OSCE Office in Yerevan and the UN Department of Public Information, and funded by the US Agency for International Development (USAID). It features more than 30 images selected from 300 photos submitted for the event; all photos included in the exhibition will be published in a catalogue.

The opening of the exhibition was attended by journalists, representatives of state institutions and civil society.

“This is a special exhibition since everyone, journalists and professional photographers in particular, were invited to present their images illustrating freedom of information and freedom of expression. These basic rights are intrinsically linked to press freedom, which in turn contributes to strengthening democratization, good governance and human development,” says Shushan Doydoyan, President of the Freedom of Information Centre (FOICA).

Read More »Part 2: World Press Freedom Day

One can meet a group of teenagers in different parts of Yerevan streets seeking for special barriers to jump and tumble over head and heels.

The jumping teenagers have been inspired by the heroes of the famous French film Yamakasi and District B13. Imitating their tricks behind the screen they are trying to do the same on the streets of the Armenian capital. And the consistent efforts are already yielding results.

The hobby that the boys respire is called “parkour” – the art of barriers’ rational overcoming or the lifestyle – its author being French David Belle.

Azniv Andreasyan, author of the photos, has graduated from Photojournalism Department of Caucasus Institute. This photo story is her final project.

Read More »Yerevan “Yamakasi”

JNews.am represents its newly created column – Photo Gallery – where Journalists for the Future organization’s first photographer-member Anahit Hayrapetyan’s works are presented.

28-year-old Anahit has shot these frames in different places of Armenia in the course of her professional activities. Though sometimes the job of photojournalist is quite difficult and risky, however Anahit is always ready to appear at the epicenter of the events. Any instant passing through Anahit’s camera lens is perpetuated in a peculiar manner. Her pictures reflect Anahit’s view as a woman on the events.

In 2005 Anahit participated at seminars of World Press Photo in Armenia, headed by famous documentary photographer Ruben Mangasaryan dead at tender age this year. Her works have been published in National Geographic Traveler Armenia, Eurasianet.org, ArmeniaNow.com, Zaman(Turkey), Ogoniok(Russia), Russian Newsweek, etc.

She won the RA President’s prize in 2006, prizes of Eurasia Social Portrait 2007, Black Sea and Caucasus 2008, Europe and Asia 2009. Now Anahit studies at Danish School of Journalism.

“Armenian Media under Attack” is a photo documentary with portraits of journalists being attacked once or several times in Armenia with their pictures made just after violent attacks. Cases of violence against journalists happen more and more often in Armenia.

Only within the last 5 years more that 10 journalists have been attacked and beaten, half of them last year in 2008.

Most of the cases are still undiscovered and those who have committed violence are not yet punished. This has become one of the shortest and easiest ways to “solve problems”, to make journalists keep silence. They are tortured both psychologically and physically for their critical reports, oppositional articles, professional work, and their right to speak freely. The violence against journalists has been strongly condemned by the country’s Ombudsman and leading media watchdogs.

No journalist is insured in Armenia from being attacked and violated for his or her right to speak freely. It is a kind of visual photo-report about violence against journalists in Armenia over recent years and it should be continued in other Caucasus countries too.

P.S. All the journalists presented here keep on writing; none of them has left journalism after being attacked.
