About Us
The “Journalists for the Future” NGO has been successfully implementing projects in the media and communications sector, contributing to the development of freedom of speech and quality journalism in Armenia, the growth of alternative media, and ensuring the diversity of information in the country.
Since its establishment in 2007, we have been conducting training programs related to the media sector, engaging in research activities, publishing media-related manuals, creating innovative platforms, and initiating public campaigns.
A clear testament to our successful work is our numerous awards, including the “Golden Key” award, granted twice by the Freedom of Information Center in different years.
In October 2016, “Journalists for the Future” NGO established Ampop.am or “Ampop Media”, first data journalism platform in Armenia, providing journalists with the opportunity to engage in experimental projects.
The website publishes content in the genre of explanatory journalism, using a concise and multimedia storytelling format to cover relevant topics for Armenia.
Ampop Media covers current and complex topics related to socio-economic issues, market relations, and economic developments, political processes, as well as human right, healthcare, the environment, and education.
By combining traditional and innovative journalistic approaches, we are creating a new type of journalism. In our content, hyperactive links provide the audience with the opportunity to access additional information from verified and reliable sources.
Our vision
We believe that a sustainable and secure future is possible in case everyone has the opportunity to communicate to any other. And here we go and try to contribute to the increase of users of online resources and formation of information literacy. We believe that by empowering individuals with these skills, we can contribute to a more informed and connected society that is better equipped to navigate the challenges of the digital age.
Our mission
Our organization is dedicated to promoting the diversity of information, the dissemination of alternative viewpoints, and the free and independent expression. We are committed to supporting the development of impartial media, maintaining the professional qualities of journalists, and building public trust in the media. By championing these principles, we hope to contribute to a more informed and engaged public, and a media landscape that is more accountable to its audience.
Our achievements over the years
Reflecting on our years of activity, we are proud to say that we have remained steadfast in our mission. Through our own self-education and training programs, as well as through various initiatives, we have shared our knowledge and experience with our partners in Armenia, including journalists, students, lecturers, and members of civil society. Over the years, we have organized dozens of events, engaging with approximately 4,000 individuals. Additionally, our NGO maintains a small library of author books and research, which can be accessed here.
