The results of the “Hackathon [YAN] Yerevan 2011” programming and projects’ presentation competition were summed up on December 19, and authors of the most interesting projects were awarded prizes.
Winner of the “Best Project” category was the “Assistant” team, which offers to create “A Voice” telephone attachment for the hearing impaired. According to the author of the project, journalist Parandzem Hovhannisyan, the project was approved by the Yerevan municipality, which has undertaken the project realization.
The same project won also the “Best Social Project” category, for which the team was awarded 350 thousand drams.
In addition to the “Assistant” team, awards were handed also to the “Open MS” team with a prize of 1 million drams for the “Calculation Program of Traffic Jam” and the “BigBrain” team of 500 thousand drams for the project proposal “Kinect Stand” on investing information platform for innovative technologies. Prizes were awarded also to other teams.
The first Armenian Hackathon, with innovative project proposals, was devoted to solving issues in Yerevan. For 24 hours, more than 30 teams worked on their proposed projects from December 17 to 18 in the Yerevan municipality.
The competition was organized by Public Journalism Club and the Microsoft Innovation Center. The event was supported also by the municipality.
