Every girl dreams to become a model. This choice is very promising at first sight. It gives glory, an easy way to earn money and a star environment. It seems that one has little to do – it is enough to show the clothes on which others are ready to spend lots of money to acquire.

In the West models’ average salary is $ 250-400 per hour. There are also famous models who earn even a few thousand dollars per hour and star models whose wages may reach to astronomical figures. For example, models Linda Evangelista and Gisele Bündchen recieve 20 000 dollars honorarium for an entry on the podium.

Recently professor of the American Poynter Institute, journalist Regina McCombs has been in Yerevan by the invitation of the U.S. Embassy in Armenia. She delivered a lecture on  New Media and Information Technologies for journalists, bloggers and students.

“I am here to represent the developments of new media environment and the ways we can use them. I would like also to know how new media is applied in Armenia,’’ says  McCombs.

For 11 years McCombs has been the senior producer of the StarTribune.com multimedia. Her stories represented through multimedia have won “Photo of the Year”, “The Best in Photojournalism” and “Emmy” international awards. Now McCombs is teaching future journalists of the Poynter Institute courses regarding the use of Multimedia, Social Networks and Mobility Aids in the sphere of journalism.

For the first time in Georgia young artists and just people who are interested in Contemporary art will have a chance to represent their works and have exhibitions for free after meeting several cryterias.

The new Contemporary art centre which will be opened on Ocober has an aim to connect people with each other from this sphere, help them to promote their works not only in Georgia but also out of its borders.

This idea belongs to a young Georgian asrtist Vato Tcereteli.

“It was 2007 and I was in Bucharest, taking part in a big conference. That time I attented a lot of art centres and enjoyed wonderful exhibitions. I returned back with a great inspiration to open a Contemporary art centre in Tbilisi, too”, says Vato Tcereteli.

Then Vato started to find a place and one of Georgian banks called TBC supported him and gave two floors building. Vato and his friends decided to find another sources to reconstruct it and succeeded.

The new art centre will have a library, cinema screening place, three exhibition and three classrooms.

Besides this kind of stuff Vato wants to make a resting room, kitchen and a bathroom for foreign artists in order if they won’t have a place to stay.

Once again the great film occasion united famous and unknown but promising representatives of the cinema world in Yerevan from July 11-18. The 7th Golden Apricot International Film Festival received 500 applications, about 120 films out of them selected and showcased, 45 represented in 3 sections of the international competition.  

Among the guests at Golden Apricot were the world film legend Claudia Cardinale, one of the most eminent and gorgeous Italian actresses, Atom Egoyan, Semih Kaplanoglu, Armen Medvedev, Rob Nilsson, Fridrik Thor Fridriksson, Stanislav Govorukhin, Lee Chang-dong and others. The host of the 7th Golden Apricot IFF was Serzh Avetikyan, a French director of Armenian origin. “Mayrig” (“Mother”) by Henri Verneuil’s opened the festival.

Claire Denis is a Paris-based filmmaker and one of the major artistic voices of contemporary French cinema. Claire Denis made her directorial and screenwriting debut in 1988 with Chocolat. The film, inspired by Denis’ own experiences in Africa, proved to be a very auspicious debut – screened at Cannes the same year and earned both a Golden Palm nomination and a César nomination for Best New Director.

VIENNA, 15 June – Despite amendments, Armenia’s new Law on Television and Radio fails to promote broadcast pluralism in the digital era, the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media, Dunja Mijatovic, said today.

The law, adopted by Parliament on 10 June, would need a presidential signature to take effect.

Mijatovic said Armenian authorities had discussed the law draft with civil society and the international community, and that her Office had provided a legal review of the draft.

“Although some recommendations from the legal review have been addressed, other recommendations that are of crucial importance for a smooth transition from analogue to digital broadcasting have not been taken into account,” she said.

Mijatovic said that the law’s shortcomings included a limit to the number of broadcast channels; a lack of clear rules for the licensing of satellite, mobile telephone and online broadcasting; the placement of all forms of broadcasting under a regime of licensing or permission by the Regulator; the granting of authority to the courts to terminate broadcast licences based on provisions in the law that contain undue limitations on freedom of the media; and a lack of procedures and terms for the establishment of private digital channels.

Paata Sabelashvili, 32, the guy in a bright T-shirt and with a calm voice. He is communicable and polite person. At the first expression there is nothing strange that might attract the attention of society till they find out his sexual orientation.

Paata, is a director of Inclusive foundation in Tbilisi. This foundation publishes the first LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender) informational magazine “Me” and promotes establishment of a society in Georgia, where sexual orientation and gender self-expression wouldn’t be a ground for discrimination.

“We promote equal rights and opportunities for the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) group by organising trainings and meetings. We also promote healthy lifestyle among LGBT. Every time in our meeting take part almost 50-60 people. It’s really progress because most homosexuals hide themselves” says Paata.

One of the reasons for hiding themselves from society is being discriminated against by the same society.

“For instance if we decide to make an investigation on finding out the percentage of LGBT group in Georgia we will have really big troubles with police and so on” mentions Paata.

“The village Shahumian is like an orphan, it has no parents” that is how 80 years old Seyran Paronyan describes the village in Marneuli region, Georgia.

The village where 80 percent of population is comprised of Armenians has a lot of issues but with the coming of the new elections the old promises are being forgotten. Seyran has no big expectations from these local government elections, as the promises are always remains as promises.

This time out of five local Sakrebulo candidates in Seyran’s village, two are Armenians and three – Georgians. Four poll stations are working in the village. One of the precinct’s commission deputy chair Mariam Tetunashvill confirms that the elections are going well, without any incidents.

Previously Shahumian used to have 11,000 population and now only 3,500 are left. As Seyran Paronian says, there are only old people. “It was very good during the communism years, I worked in three places. Now I get pension, and this is hardly enough for bread. I have a son, and it is already fourteen years that I haven’t seen him, as he left for Ukraine to work and live, but his condition is not good enough to help us” says Seyran.

Իմ ուսանողական օրը սկսվում և ավարտվում է երթուղային տաքսում: Արդեն երկու տարի է, ինչ ես ամեն օր` առավոտյան, նստում եմ մեր շենքի կողքից իր երթը սկսող 13 համարի երթուղայինը, իսկ դասերից հետո տուն վերադառնում նույն երթուղայինով: Այս ընթացքում արդեն հասցրել եմ լավ ծանոթանալ 13-ի և՛ վարորդներին, և՛ մեքենաներին:

Մեքենաների վերաբերյալ բավարար է ասել, որ բոլորը «ՌԱՖ» մակնիշի են: Իսկ վարորդներից կցանկանայի առանձնացնել հատկապես երկուսին, որոնցից մեկի անունը դրել եմ «Դժգոհիկ», իսկ մյուսինը` «Ռոմանտիկ»:

Դժգոհիկը մոտ 40 տարեկան տղամարդ է` մռայլ դեմքով, «ռաբիս» և սրտաճմլիկ երաժշտական նախասիրություններով: Նա ունի մի վատ սովորություն. մշտապես քթի տակ չարագուշակ բաներ է փնթփնթում` «երկիրը` երկիր չէ» կամ «երկիրը ղեկավարում են անգրագետները»: Նրա կողքին նստող ուղևորներին թվում է, թե Դժգոհիկն իրենց հետ է խոսում և, քաղաքավարությունից ելնելով, պարզապես գլխուները տմբտմբացնում են:

Դժգոհիկը բացարձակ տանել չի կարողանում երկու բան. առաջին, երբ կանգառից դուրս կանգառ են պահանջում և երկրորդ, երբ առավոտյան իրեն 1000 կամ 5000 դրամանոց են տալիս: Երկու դեպքում էլ նա  անասելի  այլայլվում է և սկսում ավելի բարձր փնթփնթալ ու դժգոհել` «մեղավորին» դնելով անհարմար վիճակի մեջ:

Վերջերս ներկա էի Հակոբ Պարոնյանի անվ. Երաժշտական կոմեդիայի պետական թատրոնի «Էսպես մինչև ե՞րբ…» ներկայացմանը: Այն շատ արդիական և հետաքրքիր էր, և շոշափվում էր հայ ընտանիքի առօրյա խնդիրները: Ներկայացման մեջ խաղում էին անվանի դերասաններ, այդ թվում` Ռուզաննա Գասպարյանը, Բորիս Պեպանյանը, Սամվել Բաղինյանը և Ավո Խալաթյանը: Բայց որքան ոգևորություն ապրեցի ներկայացումից, այդքան էլ հիասթափություն`մեր հայ հանդիսատեսից, երբ նույն դահլիճում նկատեցի այնպիսի մարդկանց, որոնք իրենց պահվածքով մշտապես խանգարում էին մյուսներին դիտելու ներկայացումը:

Նախ ասեմ, որ դահլիճում նստատեղերի մեծ մասը դատարկ էին. նստած էին մի քանի տարեց ամուսիններ, որոնցից մի քանիսը իրենց հետ բերել էին նաև թոռնիկներին՝ հավանաբար նրանց մեջ թատրոնի նկատմամբ հետաքրքրություն սերմանելու նպատակով: Կային նաև երիտասարդ զույգեր:

Դահլիճում իրարանցում սկսվեց, երբ մի խումբ դպրոցականներ եկան իրենց ուսուցչի ուղեկցությամբ, որը սկզբում ներկաների մոտ մեծ ոգևորություն առաջացրեց: Սակայն հիասթափությունը շատ հեռու չէր, երբ դպրոցականների պահվածքից պարզ դարձավ, որ նրանք այստեղ էին միայն «խստապահանջ» ուսուցչուհու պարտադրանքով և, դեռ ներկայացումը չսկսված, նրանք փորձում էին պարզել, թե որքան է տևելու այն:
